“The Importance of Good

Sportsmanship”

Sportsmanship is basically always important on any task you do. Just cause the word sport is in it doesn’t necessarily always relate to sports. Having good sportsmanship gives people a little taste of how you are. It determines how you act upon your teammates or classmates. Having good sportsmanship is important because you are choosing the right and you actually feel good for doing it. It is important because it lets people know whether you have heart or not. Good sportsmanship is better than being good at something because it shows how much you care for whatever you’re doing.

Sportsmanship consists:

·     Honesty

·     Loyalty

·     Discipline

·     Trust

·     Fairness

·     Care

You choose the right when you have good sportsmanship. It doesn’t matter if you lose or win a game or whatever; you always have to keep your head up no matter what. When you keep your head up you encourage yourself to do better next time.

“We need the courage to start and continue what we should do; and the courage to stop what we shouldn’t do”

Richard L. Evans.

Reflection:

I agree with this statement because you should be brave enough to say no to actions you don’t want to take, continue to do what interests you, and what you want to do, not what they force you to do. Courage is what we need to start doing what is right and stop doing what is wrong. We need to do what is right! Once you do it you have to continue doing it.

Part 3

What is important to you, as you start to reach milestones in your ambitions, you appreciate your own achievements. It is a boost, of course, if others appreciate what you have done too, but appreciating yourself will stent her yourself belief, and reinforce your determination to succeed.

Some of the key characteristics you will find in those who are successful are perseverance, prepared to research, plan and work hard, practice a lot even when things do not seem to be going well, and an ability to recover and learn from setbacks. At the outset of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in, a strong vision of your future, planning, and setting yourself achievable targets can all play an important role.

If you feel do not naturally have all those characteristics, they do not despair. Each of them can be accomplished by your own application. You can use meditation and visualization techniques to initiate your vision, and they can certainly, be learn both for that purpose and for each step you take to reach your goals; setting goals and objectives can be a personal our business technique that can be learnt. You can develop inner strength to succeed if you apply yourself to doing just that that will enable you to recover from setbacks more easily.

Student Responsibilities

Student Responsibilities

Part 1

Students have the right to seize the responsibility for their own destiny and should be encouraged to do so. With every right comes responsibility!

1.I have the responsibility to come to every class prepared to listen, to participate, and to learn.

2.I have the responsibility to read the text carefully, noting important ideas and rephrasing concepts in my own words.

3.I have the responsibility to work examples in the textbook and those given in class.

4.I have the responsibility to consult other students, the teacher, an assistant, and other resources whenever I need the extra help.

5.I have the responsibility to understand that the teacher is not primarily responsible for making me understand, but that it is my job to study and to learn.

6.I have the responsibility of keeping an open mind and trying to comprehend what the teacher is trying to get across.

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”

-Theodore Hesburgh-

  Reflection

I agree with this statement, it is so true. We make things right because our heart tells us to make them right. We don’t make things right just to have some fame or get benefited. Your decisions come from you not from anywhere or anyone else. Do whatever you think is right. Hopefully your decisions will always be right, but hey you know what they say, “people always make mistakes.”

“Decisions Determine Destiny”

-Thomas S. Monson

Reflection

This statement is so true. Whatever you do has to reflect on you someday or sometime. It can be any hour, any minute, or even any second. Your decisions will either have good or bad consequences. Those consequences will lead to your destiny and will show you where you end up in the future. Of course if you choose the right your destiny will end up being what you want it to be. Remember that your destiny is in your hands so make it right.

Successful Students

Successful Students

Part 2

4. Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want; they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade. Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals-in short, you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable players on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!

5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst for their educational dollars.

Student success

Part 1

Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes attitude and behavior as well as intelligent capacity. Successful students

1.       Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, and education, and are active participants in it.

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade. you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there , act bored , daydream, or sleep. Or, you can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside of class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.

2.       Successful students have educational goals. Successful students have legitimate goals and and are motivated by what they represent in terms of their inspiration.

“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”

--Benjamin Franklin

Reflection

I believe this statement is trying to say that having a right heart is the best thing you can have. Beauty, strength, and riches are nothing compared to your heart. These three factors will only lead you to a certain point in life, your heart, is something you will always need. That is the most important part of your body so make sure it is right.

Characteristics of a Student

Characteristics of a Student

many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.

Most instructors know what a good student is

-and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in the class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list is a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea to provide you with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.

1.   Successful students attend classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before the class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and responsible. They make sure they get all missed assignments (by contacting the instructor).

50 habits of successful people

50 habits of successful people

(Habit 44-47)

44.they don’t rationalize failure. While many are  talking about  their age, their sore back, their lack of time, their poor genetics, their ‘bad luck’, their nasty boss and their lack of opportunities (all good reasons to fail), they are finding a way to succeed despite all their challenges.

45.  they have an off switch. They know how to relax, enjoy what they have in their life and to have fun.

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.

47. they are the most interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority looks for the quickest, easiest way (the shortcut), they look for the course of action which will produce the best results over a long term.

“Right is right, ever if everyone is against it.

Wrong is wrong,

Even if everyone is for it.”

-William Penn-

I think this statement is correct because even if everyone takes a wrong decision that doesn’t justify you from choosing the wrong. You need to choose the right even aside from everyone else. If everyone else is choosing the wrong, you make a decision whether you do the right or wrong thing.

summary and reflection

Summary

After receiving a souvenir baseball at an Arizona Diamond Back and a Milwaukee game young Ian was generous enough to give away that special ball to a little boy named Nicholas who was crying because he didn’t get it. For his spectacular act Ian received twice the prize and got a contract of four games and a baseball bat autographed by his favorite player.

Reflection

Ian’s benevolent behavior made another kid and himself happy. No one got hurt and everyone went home ecstatic. He chose the right and did what was right. Ian didn’t have to give this baseball to this little boy but he was generous enough to do it. Ian is awesome!

“It’s not living that matters, but living rightly”

Socrates

I think this statement is correct because if you don’t do the right thing/choose the right you will get your freedom taken away and you won’t live as you would want to live. You will live like a prisoner that has no right if you choose the wrong.

50 Habits of successful people

50 Habits of successful people

(Habits 31-35)

31. They are secure. They do not derive their sense of worth of self from what they want they own, who they know, where they live and what they look like.

32. They are generous and kind. They take pleasure in helping other achieve.

33. They are humble and they are happy to admit mistakes and to apologize. They are confident in their ability, but not arrogant. They are happy to learn from others. They are happy to make others look good rather than seek their own personal glory.

34. They are adaptable and embrace change, while the majority are creatures of comfort and habit. They are comfortable with, and embrace, the new and unfamiliar.

35. They keep themselves in shape physically, not to be mistaken with training for the Olympics or being obsessed with their body. They understand the importance of being physically well. They are not all about looks, they are more concern with function and health. Their body is not who they are, its where they live.

Successful People

21. They don’t be in, or wait for fate, destiny, chance or luck to determine or shape their future. They believe, and are committed to actively and consciously creating their own best life.

22. While many people are reactive, they are proactive. They take actions before they have to.

23. They are more effective than most at managing their emotions. They feel like we all do but they are not slaves to their emotions.

24. They are good communicators and they consciously work at it.

25. They have a plan for their life and they work methodically at turning that plan into a reality. Their life is not a clumsy series of unplanned events and outcomes.

26. Their desire to be exceptional means that they typically do things that most won’t. They become exceptional by choice. We’re all faced with life-shaping decisions almost daily. Successful people make the decisions that most won’t and don’t.
27. While many people are pleasure junkies and avoid pain and discomfort at all costs, successful people understand the value and benefits of working through the tough stuff that most would avoid.

28. They have identified their core values (what is important to them) and they do their best to live a life which is reflective of those values.

29. They have balance. While they may be financially successful, they know that the terms money and success are not interchangeable. They understand that people, who are successful on a financial level only, are not successful at all. Unfortunately we live in a society which teaches that money equals success. Like many others things, money is a tool. It’s certainly not a bad thing but ultimately; it’s just another resource. Unfortunately too many people worship it.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self-control. They are strong. They are happy to take the road less traveled.

7. They rarely complain ( waste of energy ). All complaining does is put the complainer in a negative and unproductive state.
8. They don’t blame (what’s the point?). They take complete responsibility for their actions and outcomes (or lack thereof).

“Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.”

Otto Graham Jr.

REFLECTION

I believe his statement is correct because if you ask yourself what’s right or wrong and act accordingly most likely you would choose the right. All of your decisions reflect on you. It is your job to do the right thing and not the wrong. If you choose the wrong thing you will pay the price and get a consequence.

STUDENT REFLECTION
During his fitness test, a middle school student broke the school record of climbing the rope but was honest to his fitness teacher and declared that he didnt touch the beam. The little boy Jimmy was honest and did the right thing by choosing the right and saying the truth that he didnt touch the top of the beam. Being honest like this little boy is expectacular because you wont feal guilty for keeping the lie and cheating to be a champion. Saying the truth makes you a bigger Champion than a rope climbing champion

What is personality? The word “Personality” comes from the root persona, which means “mask.” Our personality is a mask that we wear. We don’t have to wear a mask when we are by ourselves; we wear a mask to express ourselves to others. Our personality is a character, and that character is composed of certain habits. Each of us has numerous habits; so when we want to understand our personality, we should understand our habit patterns. A habit pattern a conscious thought or action that one repeats again and again. This creates a groove in the unconscious mind and forms an unconscious habit. Unconscious habits are stronger conscious habits. All habit patterns are self-created. When we sit down and try to understand which of our habits control our lives, we see that are many deep-rooted habits within us. Choose habits that will mold your personality into a super successful student and person.
